DCDC played an important role in getting the CEO program started. DCDC helped fund the startup costs for this program.
The CEO Program offers high school students the chance to explore and learn entrepreneurial skills, leadership, and other important qualities. DCDC's support of this program is a belief that some of the graduates of this program will become local business owners and business leaders. In addition to the upfront financial assistance. several DCDC Board Members volunteer as mentors for the students in this program.
DCDC helped coordinate the Illinois Rowing program's use of Clinton Lake as their home rowing site. This achievement took cooperation, permission, and efforts of several organizations to make this a reality. Constellation Energy, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and Illinois Rowing played important roles. DCDC continues to help annually with general assistance needs and to assist their largest event which brings 30-40 collegiate teams and fans to Clinton Lake for a weekend of rowing competition at the Illinois Regatta. Illinois Rowing regularly practices on the lake daily during favorable weather and has given back to the community through assistance with community cleanup days and other local volunteering efforts. DCDC is honored to act as a community resource for this great program. GO ILLINI!
DCDC's strength is our community partners that includes County and local governments. DeWitt County, the City of Clinton, and the City of Farmer City were original partners in the formation of DCDC, along with Individual businesses, business owners, and the Chamber of Commerce's from both Clinton and Farmer City. The strength of all organizations working together to promote and strengthen our local economy is critical. Our board consists of representation from each of these organizations and helps assure cooperation and commitment to the businesses within the county.
When Kwik-Wall needed to expand operations one of the very first calls was to DCDC director, Curt Homann. Providing guidance and assistance was an important driver towards the ultimate decision to locate in Clinton. Curt stresses that, "Opening or relocating a business can present tremendous challenges. By simply helping a business through contacts, permits, and economic barriers and burdens can make all the difference in a business locating in DeWitt County or elsewhere."
With Curt's assistance, Kwik-Wall is a fantastic addition to DeWitt County bringing 300 additional manufacturing jobs.
